Sketchbook dump #1

I've been feeling for a few years that I don't really want to post my drawing or paintings to places like instagram. Beyond the weird place of social media in modern life and my feelings about Facebook as a business, I also feel like you lose some ownership of your work when you post it to that kind of algorithmic social media. Not in a legal, literal sense - but in some other sense certainly.
Anyway, all this to say I thought I'd try posting a few pages from my sketchbook here and if I like how that feels, I'll keep doing it!
These first sketches are from nearly a year ago, in my last sketchbook.

The above was one of the first times I start to combine different references from online and elements from life into a single image.
Before the sketchbook these images are from, I hadn't done much drawing for a few years. Something about this sketchbook and my approach to it really started up a drawing practice again. It's hard to fully put a finger on why, but I think part of me let go of perfect and started wanting to just make things again.

This page has a similar vibe to the last. I can spot Laura from Twin Peaks screaming in this page, too.
