Doing the Same Thing and Getting a Different Result

Doing the Same Thing and Getting a Different Result
I've been on this walk through the town where I live many times, but have only taken this photo once.

There's an adage that madness is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result. I disagree, I can go on the same walk over and over again, and every single time I'll spot something different to enjoy. I can read the same book twice and have a different experience of it each time. I can watch a film I used to dislike and suddenly find that I like it. I don't think this is madness.

One of my favourite things to do is visit somewhere I'm familiar with and spend the day just roaming around. I'll go to the art gallery I've been to a dozen times before, and I'll find different things to fall in love with each time. New things to take photos of each time.

There is beauty in the mundane, partly at least because there is beauty in how we think and experience things - and that beauty shifts and changes and flows, because how we think does the same.
