A Staffordshire Spaniel Ornament for my Art Beam
The latest addition to my Office's Art Beam is this lovely limited edition print of Arron Jolley's painting of a Staffordshire Spaniel ornament. I saw Aaron's work for the first time at a Corn Exchange event - the Art House Fayre.
I picked up a few of Aaron's postcards, the ones that jumped out at me, but the painting of the Spaniel stayed in my mind. I wouldn't go as far as saying when I closed my eyes, I saw the Spaniel. But it was close. When I got home, I realised that I should have bought one then and there - but I'm not always the best at thinking on my feet. So I hopped on his website and picked up one of these prints.
My wife Rowan (who also had a table at the Art House Fayre) will tell you that I have a strange attraction to exactly this kind of ornament, and I'm always pointing them out when we see them, or art of them. So when I saw an artist whose work clicked with me immediately who also had a painting of the weird little gremlin dog ornaments, it was practically destiny.
You can spot the bonus Billy Murphy print in the corner, too ✨
